Tirumala NRI Darshan Guide

Prepare your documents, choose a darshan plan, and know what to do on Tirumala hill. Current TTD notices recognize an NRI special category, but do not publish one complete rule for every passport or travel date.

    The answer at a glance

TTD's September 2026 notice still names NRIs among special darshan categories, but does not publish a complete eligibility or booking procedure. A 1 September 2026 TTD notice includes NRIs in its list of special darshan categories.

A 20 October 2016 TTD announcement described Supatham entry on presentation of a relevant passport. Its ₹300 price and noon-to-5 PM hours are historical, not a current timetable. The 2016 TTD announcement establishes what TTD said then; it does not establish today's price, hours or eligibility.

Plan for a normal TTD-managed darshan option if special entry is unavailable. A separate NRI route should never be treated as a guaranteed ticket or a guaranteed short queue.

Who may qualify, and what should you carry?

The 2026 notices confirm that an NRI category exists; they do not define every eligible passport, visa, OCI or residence combination. If you are an Indian citizen living abroad, a foreign citizen, or an OCI holder, prepare documents for your own status rather than assuming all three groups follow the same rule.

    Bring a document folder

    • Original passport and any overseas visa, residence permit or OCI document relevant to your status
    • Travel and India-arrival evidence if available, including a digital record when no stamp was issued
    • The exact ticket or token and original ID used for any alternative darshan booking
    • Each companion's own identity and eligibility documents

This is a preparation checklist, not a published list of documents that guarantees NRI entry. Keep originals accessible; a phone image alone may not satisfy an identity check.

Rules still needing a current answer

    • Which Indian-passport residents abroad, foreign citizens or OCI holders qualify
    • Whether a recent India-arrival window applies and which document proves arrival
    • Current registration method, reporting point, hours, quota and fee
    • Whether children or India-resident relatives can use the same category

No current TTD source reviewed here confirms a universal 30-day or 90-day arrival rule, a single companion policy, or a fixed NRI counter price.

A practical plan, from abroad to the queue

    1. 1. Choose your darshan date first

Check dated TTD festival and crowd notices before booking travel. TTD suspended NRI special darshan for the 15–23 September 2026 Brahmotsavam and also announced a Rathasapthami suspension in January 2026 . Those are examples of dated restrictions, not a year-round closure.

    2. 2. Select an entry route

If you want to use the NRI category, check whether TTD lists it for your date and document status. If you prefer a confirmed ticket, see whether Special Entry Darshan has availability through the official TTD portal . Sarva Darshan is TTD's free general darshan; its queue and entry arrangements vary.

    3. 3. Keep travel and darshan separate

Arrange flights, rail or road travel to Tirupati, then travel up to Tirumala by road or a designated footpath. TTD describes both the road and pedestrian routes ; current schedules and access restrictions can change. Accommodation does not include darshan, and a darshan ticket does not reserve a room.

    4. 4. Recheck close to departure

For a booked slot, use the entrance and reporting time on your own ticket. TTD says holders of Slotted Sarva Darshan tokens and ₹300 Special Entry tickets enter only at their allotted time . For the NRI category, confirm the live reporting point and process before setting off; the 2016 Supatham hours should not be used as a timetable.

What to do on Tirumala hill

    Dress for temple entry

TTD's published dress code specifies dhoti or pyjamas with upper cloth for men, and saree, half-saree with blouse, or churidar with pyjama and upper cloth for women in the categories it names. Choose traditional dress before joining the queue; do not count on changing at the entry gate.

    Store phones and bags

TTD reported free official luggage and mobile-phone deposit counters in Tirumala, including a Supatham counter in June 2026. Deposit prohibited items before entry, keep the issued receipt or token, and collect belongings from the designated return point.

The TTD Venkatadri navigation app , launched in October 2026, maps darshan entry points, luggage centres, help desks, buses and other pilgrim facilities. It can help you orient yourself; follow on-site TTD staff if the entrance changes.

    Visiting with family or children

Prepare each person's passport or other original identity document and any document relevant to that person's overseas status. An Indian-resident relative is not automatically covered by another family member's NRI status. Child ticket, proof-of-age and companion rules may differ by darshan or seva category; check the terms of the route you actually use. Keep your group together at reporting and allow time for individual checks.

If one member cannot use the NRI category, arrange a common alternative for the group rather than assuming the whole party can enter through a special line. For booked tickets, ensure the names and identity details match the documents carried to Tirumala.

If NRI special darshan is unavailable

    Sarva Darshan

Free general darshan. Plan flexible time; the queue depends on TTD's daily arrangements.

    ₹300 Special Entry

Advance ticket when quota is available. Book via TTD and report at the assigned time; it does not promise a fixed wait.

    Seva or other category

Use only if you independently meet that category's booking, document and reporting requirements.

TTD warns against fake booking sites and middlemen . Our darshan guide compares the options in more detail; bookings belong on the official TTD portal.

The four questions worth confirming for your date

Current TTD public notices do not settle these points universally: your exact document status, an arrival-date rule if any, each companion's eligibility, and the reporting point, time and fee. Check dated TTD News and the TTD services portal. For a case-specific answer, TTD lists 155257 on its contact page. Note the date of the answer and keep an alternative darshan plan.
